super bowl - by lauren
On Sunday February 3, 2013, the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers battled it out on the playing field, in the 20-13 super bowl.
The two coaches, John and Jim Harbaugh are blood related brothers. Both their teams played in the big game, trying their best as the coaches tried not to let family get in the way of business.
Over a million people watched the super bowl, Sunday. With commercial prices reaching up to 5 million dollars for 30 seconds, see as this game is one of the most watched televised events on TV. Most people spend weeks preparing in advance for parties, get togethers, and celebratory dinners. Coaches, fans, players, field preppers, and security all prepare for this popular American event, but maybe the technicians should have prepared a little bit more.
The Ravens were up by 22 points, and in a strong lead against their defenseless aponitts. Each play, the Ravens were quick-witted and much faster than the 49ers who were caught in the dust of their opponents. They were barely playing the same game as the Ravens! Their fans all hoped for something to change this game around. Something to give their team some sort of help, an advantage of some sort. Luckily, faulty lights and unprepared technicians answered their hopes.
Only minutes into the third quarter, while the Ravens were playing, and the 49ers watching in awe, the lights all powered off leaving the teams, coaches, fans, husbands, wives, sons, and daughters all confused, and silent. The announcers spoke up over the audience informing everyone that it was a minor power outage that lasted upwards of half an hour. Some believe Beyonce stole all the power during her halftime performance, while others predicted power problems before the game began.
The players laid resting on the field as the managers conversed, and technicians worked feverishly as time ticked away to turn the lights back on. After 35 minutes of resting, searching for commercials to fill the time, and controversy over the cause over the power, the power turned back on. The game continued, and the fans waited eagerly for the turn out.
In the ending quarter the 49ers got just what they need. A break.
This power outage ended the Ravens lucky streak, and they worked as hard as they could.
Time passed, until the final play ended, and the Ravens won the game, 34-31.
